Spinal Decompression is a Non-Invasive Treatment to Decrease Pain
Spinal Decompression Therapy is a treatment that helps alleviate pain associated with the discs in the spine that are between vertebrae. Spinal decompression involves stretching the spine, using a traction table or similar motorized device, with the goal of relieving pain and increasing functionality in the spine.
Over time, due to age, lifestyle or injury, discs can bulge, become herniated or degenerate. Once this process begins, pain, limited range of motion and discomfort may occur in the spine and in the legs. This low-risk treatment is essential for anyone with lower back issues.

Some of the Conditions We Treat Include...
Chronic Disc & Nerve Conditions
Spinal decompression is commonly used for patients with:
• Herniated or bulging discs
• Degenerative disc disease
• Chronic back or neck pain
• Sciatic and nerve-related pain
This non-invasive approach focuses on addressing the structural cause of pain — not just masking symptoms.
Sciatica
Sciatica occurs when spinal discs place pressure on the sciatic nerve, causing pain that radiates through the back, hip, and leg. Spinal decompression is specifically designed to relieve nerve compression and reduce disc pressure, helping alleviate sciatica symptoms at the source.
Back Pain
Disc-related back pain is one of the most common causes of chronic discomfort. Non-surgical spinal decompression is designed to reduce pressure within the spine, promote disc healing, and relieve nerve compression for patients suffering from acute or long-standing back pain.
Neck Pain
Neck pain is often caused by disc degeneration, bulging discs, or nerve compression. Spinal decompression may help address the underlying cause by gently relieving pressure on cervical discs and surrounding nerves, without surgery or injections.
Headaches
Certain headaches originate from the cervical spine and nerve irritation. By reducing disc pressure and improving spinal mechanics in the neck, non-surgical spinal decompression may help patients experiencing cervicogenic headaches, tension-related headaches, and headache symptoms linked to spinal dysfunction.
Auto Injuries
Car accidents can cause hidden disc and nerve injuries that don’t always show up immediately. Spinal decompression can help relieve pressure on injured discs and nerves early, reducing the risk of chronic pain, scar tissue formation, and long-term disability following an auto injury.
If you’ve tried physical therapy, injections, or other treatments without lasting relief, spinal decompression may be the next step.

Dr. Kamryn Sholly

Diagnostician, Non-Surgical Disc & Nerve Pain Specialist
Dr. Michael Forlini grew up in historic Hyde Park N.Y adjacent to a 100 acre woodland where he kept busy mountain biking, hiking, riding ATVs, swimming, and snowboarding. When he wasn't exploring the woods he spent his time playing basketball, skateboarding, wrestling, and playing guitar. Dr. Forlini eventually discovered the power of nutrition and exercise the summer before entering college when he started weight lifting and running. This realization followed him to SUNY Oneonta where he studied Dietetics and personal training prior to declaring Human Biology as his major. Dr. Forlini earned Honors in Biological Studies and completed internships with physical therapists, as well as, orthopedic and general surgeons. After observing surgeries for the summer, he was selected to become a teaching assistant to the Anatomy and Physiology Department for the entirety of his senior year.
Dr. Forlini graduated with his bachelors of science in Human Biology with a physical therapy concentration in 2011 and began working at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown NY as a physical therapy aide. It wasn't until 2012 that Dr. Forlini hurt his back weight lifting and discovered chiropractic. After a few treatments, he realized that chiropractic was the perfect balance of everything he was passionate about; anatomy, physiology, exercise, nutrition, and nature. Soon after, he enrolled at New York Chiropractic College to pursue a Doctorate degree in Chiropractic (DC).

Dr. Meenan has worked with all types of people from NFL athletes to elderly seniors who do not like the typical chiropractic adjustment. He enjoys working with the patient to find a personalized approach that works for them. He has additional training in active release technique, which is a highly effective, state-of-the-art soft-tissue mobilization technique. He has also received extra training and certifications in functional movement techniques in kinesiology taping, advanced lower extremity analysis, dynamic cupping and Motion Palpation Institute.
When he is not treating patients, he enjoys being as active as possible by weight lifting, snowboarding, waterskiing, and coaching lacrosse. Dr. Brian Meenan lives in South Fayette with his wife Kelly and their two Labrador retrievers, Tucker and Ryder.

Clinical Technician
I’m a clinical technician at The Disc Doctors. I was born in Guyana, which is in South America. I migrated to the United States at an early age with my parents. After graduating high school, I pursued my passion in the medical field where I gained abundant amount of experience helping patients. But most importantly I am a wife and mom to my two daughters. My typical day consists of cleaning the kitchen too many times to count, meal prepping for the week and ensuring everyone is where they need to be. But above all, I enjoy spending time with my family. We love building Legos together as if we don’t have enough Lego built around the house and to always conclude my day, I enjoy blasting music and dancing around with my girls!
